Maintenance cleaning will be vastly different from deep cleaning. The frequency of cleaning here is the absolute minimum cleaning that should occur.

Contact surfaces must be cleaned continuously . Floors in kitchens and food factories should be cleaned after each shift. Daily cleaning is required for ovens, stove tops, grills, bain-maries and plate warmers. Waste bins will also need thorough daily cleaning. Walls and ceilings in kitchens should be cleaned once a week. Cleaning out grease traps and floor drains should also be done once a week.

Wherever possible it is best to have liquid cleaning chemicals provided to staff in spray bottles. Areas should then be cleaned using colour-coded cloths or brushes.

How to clean with HACCP

The HACCP cleaning system is typically instituted in food factories and kitchens.

In order for the HACCP system to be effective the correct cleaning equipment should be used. This cleaning equipment should be colour coded so that a particular item is used in a particular area. This helps to prevent cross-contamination of bacteria. Therefore each particular area will have it’s own set of cleaning equipment.

This will also apply to the cleaning chemicals used. The cleaning chemicals used to clean a food factory or kitchen need to be effective in killing bacteria to ensure food safety.  Only approved cleaning chemicals may be used! Using approved cleaning chemicals can minimise the risk of contamination of food on contact surfaces.

There will also need to be a master cleaning schedule in place which will involve deep, maintenence and daily cleaning procedures. Cleaning records will need to be kept.

Industrial Cleaning - Floor Cleaning - Yellow Floor Powder

Cleaning workshop floors is no easy task but with the right cleaning chemicals it can be made a whole lot easier. Blendwell Chemicals manufactures a large range of cleaning chemicals and is sure to have the right cleaning chemical for you to clean your workshop floors.

If the floor was really dirty and you cleaned it with Brickwash to get it clean you will not want to continue using Brickwash as the floor will strip away. A fantastic maintenance cleaning product is Yellow Floor Powder.  What’s really great about this floor powder is that it is not caustic based so it is a lot easier than most floor powders to use. This cleaning chemical has excellent fat, grease and dirt removing properties.

This concentrated floor powder is best used when the floor has been made wet with a sprinkle of water and then the powder is sprinkled liberally on top. A stiff broom should be used to work the powder into the floor and then leave to stand for about 20 minutes. This will give the cleaning chemical time to work and then rinse off with excess water.

Industrial Cleaning - Floor Cleaning - Brickwash

For cleaning floors that have been exposed to building work where excess cement has dropped on the floor and not been cleaned up in time, you will need to use a seriously strong cleaning chemical.

For this level of cleaning a plain cement floor, I would recommend a Blendwell Chemicals product called Brickwash. This cleaning chemical is a highly acidic detergent blend and must be handled with great care.  It works really well on floors that have not been cleaned for a long time but have a large amount of grease build-up. It also works really well as a primer if you want to paint the floor afterwards – just be sure to rinse all of the cleaning chemical off and allow to dry before attempting to paint.

It is also effective at removing cement left over from building work as well as cleaning away lime discolouration left on stone and bricks. Always use full safety gear when handling this product as it is highly acidic. If you choose to use this cleaning chemical it should only be for once off cleaning. If used repeatedly it can strip away the floor completely. Do not use on a painted floor if you want the paint to remain.

Industrial Cleaning - Floor Cleaning - Maxikleen

When cleaning your factory or workshop floor lifting all the grease and grime that exists is something that is not that easy to do but is very necessary.  You may need to use some powerful cleaning chemicals to help you achieve this goal.

A fabulous cleaning product to consider is Blendwell Chemicals Maxikleen. Maxikleen is another one of those really versatile cleaning chemicals that can be used almost anywhere because it is a degreaser and detergent in one. Maxikleen is a brilliant product to use because it complies well above requirements for SABS 1344 so you can be sure of this cleaning product being all that you need it to be.

For cleaning workshop floors, I would recommend that you dilute this cleaning chemical at a ratio of 1:10 with water. This would mean that to make up 5 litres of cleaning solution you will need 500ml of Maxikleen to be mixed with 4,5 litres of water. Simply scrub the cleaning solution into the floor with a broom and leave for a few minutes for it to activate. Brush the floor again with the broom and rinse with clean water.
