School bags are one of those things that amaze me. Have you ever noticed how quickly a kid can ruin a school bag? Or is it just my kids? If your kids have one of the hard type school bags a wipe inside and out should go far.
Fabric bags often have boards that cannot get wet inside them to give them shape. This means that you cannot throw these bags in the washing machine. You can however take a soft brush, a cloth and some cleaning solution to clean it out. First hold the bag upside down over a bin and give it a good shake. Let all those bits of who knows what fall out and check that none remain.
Using a cleaning product like Blendwell Chemicals Sanclean is a great idea because this cleaning product is a detergent and disinfectant. It will also leave the bag smelling good. Wearing gloves take 100ml of Sanclean and fill up a small container to make one litre of cleaning solution. For corners and the bottom of the bag use the soft brush dipped in your cleaning solution to clean those areas. The flat parts like the sides and top you can mostly use the cloth. You could also use the brush for areas where there are some marks. Make sure not to soak any areas of the bag that could be where the hard board is. Leave the bag in a warm place to dry out preferably on your washing line.
If your child has a hard fabric pencil case it should be cleaned the same way. A soft fabric pencil case can be cleaned by putting it in the washing machine. Of course the washing machine may not be able to get everything out but you can do some spot cleaning with the Sanclean solution that you may have left over and then re-wash in the washing machine. A box type pencil case will need to be wiped inside and out with a cloth dipped in your cleaning solution. All stationery can be wiped down with a damp cloth to get rid of any stickiness or residue.
