Cleaning up the Office

In the past many of us might have thought that office cleaning was necessary purely because of what clients might think of our business. We did it because of the impression we would give people and that it would like nice for us.

Studies have been done on how a clean work environment affects employees. It has been discovered that the benefits are enormous. To the extent that the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work (EU-OSHA) has now launched the Healthy Workplaces Campaign. This campaign aims to make everyone in the workplace aware and work together to create better work environments.

The benefits of this include fewer accidents, less absenteeism, increased productivity, a happier and more productive workforce, improved relationships with suppliers and partners and a better reputation with investors, customers and the community. With all of those benefits its well worth the effort to clean up your act and create a workplace you want to be in. You could even take it one step further and go green. Using eco-friendly cleaning products will be even better for your work environment.

You’ll be able to find all the office cleaning chemicals you need at Blendwell Cleaning Solutions.

Why would you use a QAC disinfectant?

When your environment requires for you to be HACCP compliant it is important to choose the right cleaning chemicals. Only use cleaning products that are HACCP compliant otherwise you could run into serious trouble. Disinfecting surfaces in the food industry is something that needs to be done a lot and your products need to be really effective.

There are two types of disinfectants that can be used. QAC based disinfectants are disinfectants that use Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (QAC) as their base. These disinfectants have no smell which is a positive thing for food safe cleaners. These cleaning products are very easy to use and can be used at a low concentration. The use of these cleaning chemicals will not cause corrosion but have a very good kill rate.

Blendwell Cleaning Solutions has a large range of cleaning products in their h-range (HACCP compliant) of cleaning products and you can get more information on Food Safe Cleaning Chemicals.

We have a factory in Midrand, South Africa and we are your local cleaning chemical manufacturer!

Cleaning chemical manufacturing and private label

There are a few different terms that describe private label manufacturing. It can also be called own label manufacturing and toll manufacturing. These terms describe when a cleaning chemical manufacturer, like Blendwell Chemicals, manufactures cleaning products for clients. These products are then sold under the clients own brand.

So, if you wanted to have a range of cleaning chemicals that you could sell as your own, you could call Blendwell Chemicals to manufacture this range of cleaning products and even package it in your own 5 or 25 litre cans. Blendwell Chemicals also have the capabilities of being able to formulate a specific product for you. If you do not find the cleaning product you are looking to market and sell on their extensive product list, then we can create it according to your specifications. We are also happy to sign confidentiality agreements with you and manufacture according to your own formulation.

Blendwell Chemicals really can do it all. We’ve been manufacturing cleaning products for over 23 years so we know what we’re doing. Visit our website at www.blendwell.co.za to see all the different types of cleaning products we manufacture. Getting your teen to clean

It may seem like an impossible task but it isn’t if you preserve. Yes, most teens will be prepared to help out and the trick is to get them to want to do it. It may be that pocket money is linked to chores or a small reward is given if completed to a satisfactory standard. A key thing to remember here is that as a child grows up and their rights increase so should their responsibilities increase.

There are a huge amount of chores children from age 12 can do. It is best for you to select those chores which you need your child to do and discuss the list with them. The first thing is get them to agree to do their chores. They may need some training for specific things. Getting your kids to do these chores will help them when they finally leave the nest.

Here are some appropriate chores for kids 12 and up:

Change bed sheets
Do laundry from start to finish
Clean shower, bath and toilet
Completely care for pets
Prepare one supper for the family per week
Babysit younger siblings for short periods
Mow lawn, spread mulch, fertilize
Wash windows
Pack own suitcase for longer holidays

Kids for this age are able to be a great help around the house. By teaching them these skills you will make their transition to complete independence so much easier.  For more information on cleaning products you can use and how to use them, visit www.blendwell.co.za. Blendwell Chemicals is the best local cleaning chemicals manufacturer in Johannesburg, South Africa.

2 Documents to Explain your Cleaning Products

Blendwell Chemicals supplies two documents for every cleaning product that we manufacture. These two documents will help you with all the information you may need about our cleaning chemicals, how to use them and how to stay safe with them. The documents can be quite technical so if you need some help - just ask.

The Data Sheet includes a description of the cleaning product, how to use it, dilutions, its basic chemical stats and safety recommendations. This document is usually about one page long and is great for a quick overview of the cleaning product you are interested in. You should be able to find all the most important facts about your cleaning product on this page.

The Material Safety Data Sheet is also known as a MSDS. This document is much more indepth document than the data sheet. The MSDS will provide you with information regarding the hazardous components that make up your cleaning chemical. These hazardous components are a legal requirement so that users are aware of the potential risks of that particular product. This doesn’t mean however that because these raw materials are used in your cleaning product that it must be incredibly harmful. Hazardous raw materials can be diluted so much in formulation that they are no longer hazardous or that can also be neutralized in formulation. You will find information on the environmental impacts of the cleaning product and full safety information too. The safety information will cover what safety equipment you may need and what to do if there is a significant spill of the cleaning product. The MSDS will cover how this product will react in a fire and the storage requirements. First aid advice and transport codes are also available here. There will a risk and safety analysis at the end of the document that will include the hazard listing of the finished product,

If you buy any of our cleaning products we are happy to supply you with either of these documents so that you know more about the cleaning chemicals you are using. Blendwell Chemicals is your partner in cleaning and is the best manufacturer of cleaning products in the Midrand area.

4 Key Elements of Cleaning Faster and Easier

No matter what you’re going to clean you will need to know a little bit about how to clean. Sure, you may not need to know all the rules for cleaning to get the job done but knowing and applying the rules will help save you time, effort and money too.

Anything that requires cleaning needs more than one element to be cleaned. Certain items will require all four elements to be considered and adjusted.

THERMAL ENERGY means that heat may be required for cleaning to be optimum. Some items, often where they are greasy, will need heat to support cleaning. Think of cleaning and oven or grill.

CHEMICAL ENERGY is the actual cleaning chemical used to clean. Using the right cleaning product at the right dilution will definitely make cleaning easier. More is not always better. In fact, there are some cleaning products, like dishwashing liquid, where using more cleaning chemical makes it harder to get your items clean.

MECHINICAL ENERGY is the energy that you or a machine uses to clean. This is the actual wiping motion when you clean a countertop or scrubbing when cleaning the paving bricks outside.

The final element is time. Some cleaning requires extended contact time so you may apply the cleaners and then wait for 20 minutes before starting to clean (this would allow for chemical energy to do the hard work for you). But all cleaning requires time even if it is only a couple of seconds contact time.

The equation of cleaning is:
CLEANING = (CHEMICAL ENERGY + MECHANICAL ENERGY + THERMAL ENERGY) X TIME

Things to remember when cleaning floors

It’s always a good idea to keep safety in mind when cleaning your floors. Floor cleaning should ideally happen when there are going to be the least amount of people walking over the area being cleaned. Sometimes this is not possible so it will be necessary to put out safety signs so that people can be aware of the wet and probably slippery floor so that you can avoid accidents.

If you have followed the basic principles of cleaning by using the correct cleaning product in the correct way you will have checked what type of floor you are cleaning. Is the hard floor sealed or porous? This will greatly affect the choice of cleaning product used. A porous floor will hold oils and fats in the pores of the flooring and makes the floor more susceptible to surface contaminants. The oils that remain on the floor will make it more likely to be slippery.

For more information on cleaning chemicals for floors please visit www.blendwell.co.za/Floor_Care_Cleaning_Chemicals. Blendwell Cleaning Solutions has all the cleaning products you’ll need. How to clean machine parts

Cleaning machine parts to be worked on or before refitting requires some very serious cleaning chemicals. The cleaning products required are called soak tank cleaners and they need to be able to effectively cut through huge amounts of grease for the machine parts to clean enough.

Machine parts are usually cleaned using a method called soak tank cleaning. This involves dipping a basket containing the relevant machine parts into a drum containing the cleaning product. These soak tank cleaners can be hot or cold. Typically a cold soak tank cleaner would be solvent based. This usually requires a larger financial outlay initially however if the product is used and stored correctly it can last for as long as five years.

Hot soak tank cleaners are water-based and do not cost as much as cold tank cleaners. There is a rather large running cost on this cleaning product. Hot soak tank cleaners will need to be heated to a temperature of around 70 degrees Celsius before the dip basket can be lowered into the cleaning product. Once it has been heated up adequately the dip basket can be lowered into the cleaning product and may need to stay there for up to two hours. This can equate to five hours of heating.  With electricity costs being what they are these days this can add up to a huge electricity bill.

How to clean your workshop - Part 2

Maintaining cleanliness in an industrial environment is important. Accidents happen easily in these areas as there is often a fair amount of hard to remove grease around. It is vital that regular cleaning programmes are followed.

When considering a cleaning product for maintenance cleaning, a great choice for your workshop floor is Yellow Floor Powder. It’s awesome to use because it contains no caustic like many other floor cleaners. This does not mean it has poor performance, in fact it has excellent fat, grease and dirt removing properties.

Simply wet the floor and sprinkle a fair amount of powder over it. You can use a stiff broom to work it into the floor. Leave to activate for about 20 minutes and then rework with the broom. You can now wash off with excess water.

For all your industrial cleaning chemicals contact Blendwell Cleaning Solutions today. You can find more information on the industrial cleaning products that we manufacture at www.blendwell.co.za. We are the best local manufacturer of cleaning chemicals in Midrand, South Africa.

Cleaning livestock with green cleaning products

An eco-friendly cleaning product like Eco-Lyte is a fantastic choice for cleaning areas where livestock are kept. I have some ideas for you on where Eco-Lyte can be used for chickens.

Firstly, this green cleaning product can be used for CIP (Cleaning in place) cleaning. This would include facility sanitation, personal cleanliness, machinery decontamination and for odour control. The chickens themselves can have their drinking water disinfected with Eco-Lyte, the maize that they eat can also be sprayed with Eco-Lyte and areas can be cleaned with Eco-Lyte when fogging takes place.

Why would you want to clean with Eco-Lyte in this environment?

Well, it results in a 6% higher egg production rate and each egg will weigh 5 to 6 grams more. Chicken mortality drops by 30%. These are all really goods reasons and will have a huge impact on the bottom line. But best of all is the fact that there is no potential for these environmentally friendly products to do any harm.

How does Eco-Lyte work?

Eco-Lyte  is an amazing green cleaning product. It uses the latest technology and the simplest raw materials to create a powerful cleaning product that is totally eco-friendly

This is the science bit – even if you are not technical this is worth a read. Here’s what is so incredible about this environmentally friendly cleaning product: Eco-Lyte NTL is made up of 99.69% water. It is in a highly active state with 0.26% Sodium Chloride (also known as salt) and the key ingredient Hypochlorus Acid is at 0.05%. When our bodies are injured or infected the first immune cells to appear at the site are called Neutrophils. These cells use salt, water and our body’s energy to produce Hypochlorous Acid. So Eco-Lyte NTL actually mimics the chemistry of the human body’s defence system. This is what makes our bodies able to fight off infections and heal wounds and it’s what makes Eco-Lyte NTL so effective. The beauty of these cleaning products is that once disposed of after use they revert back to their original composition – simple salt and water.

On laboratory tests, Eco-Lyte NTL has given incredible results on biofilm removal, sterilizing and fungi elimination. By using this green cleaning product you will be able to save time and money by having quicker disinfection cycles and a rinse free process.
