How to clean your freezer

Unless your freezer is overflowing with ice, it’s easy to forget about cleaning it. Every once in a while though you do need to clean your freezer as sometimes food does drip out of containers before freezing and then the door get accidentally left slightly open. Before you know it there’s a gooey mess at the bottom of the freezer and everything starts getting sticky. It’s also a good idea to clear all food that is passed it’s time in the freezer.

When you remove the food from your freezer it’s a good idea to put it all together in one place out of the sun. If you can put them all in a cooler box that would be ideal. At this stage you can switch the freezer off at the plug.

If yours is the type of freezer that needs to be defrosted, you will need to start by putting a towel on the floor at the open door. Replace this towel as often as you need to. To speed up the defrosting process you can put a pot of hot water inside the freezer to heat it up and melt the ice. Do not scrape the ice away with a knife or spatula as you might accidentally puncture the casing of your freezer and this will cost a fortune to repair. When all the ice is defrosted you are ready to give it a clean.

A great freezer cleaning product to use at this stage is one from the Delphis Eco range. Blendwell Chemicals manufactures this eco-friendly range of cleaning chemicals under license to the UK from their factory in Midrand, South Africa. I would recommend the Anti-bacterial Sanitiser. Dilute 50ml of this green cleaning chemical in a one litre spray bottle filled up with water. Spray the cleaning solution onto the surfaces of your freezer and wipe with a clean cloth. When you have finished you can switch on your freezer and repack your food.

For more information on this and all the other freezer cleaning chemicals that are manufactured by Blendwell Chemicals please visit www.blendwell.co.za. We are your local cleaning chemical supplier!

How to clean up for school

School bags are one of those things that amaze me. Have you ever noticed how quickly a kid can ruin a school bag? Or is it just my kids? If your kids have one of the hard type school bags a wipe inside and out should go far.
Fabric bags often have boards that cannot get wet inside them to give them shape. This means that you cannot throw these bags in the washing machine. You can however take a soft brush, a cloth and some cleaning solution to clean it out. First hold the bag upside down over a bin and give it a good shake. Let all those bits of who knows what fall out and check that none remain.
Using a cleaning product like Blendwell Chemicals Sanclean is a great idea because this cleaning product is a detergent and disinfectant. It will also leave the bag smelling good. Wearing gloves take 100ml of Sanclean and fill up a small container to make one litre of cleaning solution. For corners and the bottom of the bag use the soft brush dipped in your cleaning solution to clean those areas. The flat parts like the sides and top you can mostly use the cloth. You could also use the brush for areas where there are some marks. Make sure not to soak any areas of the bag that could be where the hard board is. Leave the bag in a warm place to dry out preferably on your washing line.
If your child has a hard fabric pencil case it should be cleaned the same way. A soft fabric pencil case can be cleaned by putting it in the washing machine. Of course the washing machine may not be able to get everything out but you can do some spot cleaning with the Sanclean solution that you may have left over and then re-wash in the washing machine. A box type pencil case will need to be wiped inside and out with a cloth dipped in your cleaning solution. All stationery can be wiped down with a damp cloth to get rid of any stickiness or residue.
For more information on Sanclean and any of the other Blendwell Chemicals cleaning products, please go to www.blendwell.co.za Blendwell Chemicals manufactures a huge range of cleaning products and has a factory in Midrand, South Africa. We are your local cleaning chemical supplier.

Clean Vinyl Floors

The best type of polish to use to clean vinyl floors is a liquid polymer polish. You can use Blendwell Chemicals Sureshine. Sureshine vinyl floor cleaner comes in two different varieties. You can use either 14% or 20%. This polish is great to use because it gives the floor an amazing shine but is also a non-slip coating.

As always be sure to wear safety eyewear, gloves and suitable clothes and shoes. Apply Sureshine to the floor with a mop in a very thin layer. This cleaning product should not leave puddles on the floor as this will not give you a desired finished result. Wait approximately half an hour between each layer. If using Sureshine 14 you may need to do 3-4 layers and if using Sureshine 20 you will need to do 2-3 layers on your floor. Each of these layers must be as thin as possible. When the floor is completely dry you can buff with a polishing machine but this may not be necessary.
Blendwell Chemicals manufactures Sureshine vinyl floor cleaner as well as many other cleaning chemicals.

Feel free to contact us today to find out more about the wide range of cleaning chemicals available. We manufacture in Midrand, South Africa and we are your local cleaning chemical supplier!

How to clean your patio

My patio has been subjected to a fair amount of mud, dust, dog hair and mess from the last braai. The combination of all these things makes this not quite the easiest mess to clean. Start off by sweeping away leaves and grass that might have built up. You can probably sweep away a fair amount of dried mud and dust too.
The drippings from the braai or any other food that might have ended up there may be the trickiest to remove. Use rubber gloves and safety eyewear. You can use a product like Blendwell Chemicals Wac GP Liquid to clean the whole patio. Pour about 50ml of Wac GP Liquid into a bucket and fill up with 5 litres of water. Then pour some of this solution onto an area of the patio and using a stiff bristled broom brush the area clean. Once you have done this over the whole patio hose down with clean water and leave to dry. You’ll be enjoying your clean patio in no time.

Getting grease off of fabric

When it comes to heavy duty grease and grime ordinary washing powder will not be able to do the job – no matter how good it is. Oil and grease can cause havoc with your washing and it is best to wash very greasy items separately.

It is even better to use different fabric cleaning chemicals. I recommend overall wash from Blendwell Chemicals. This cleaning product is high in alkalinity and therefore able to deal with heavy grease. This fabric cleaning chemical is not designed to wash normal fabrics on a regular basis. But if you have a particularly oily table cloth you can use overall wash once in a while. Because it is designed to get grease off of fabric it will degrade more delicate fabrics, if used regularly.

For more information on this fabric cleaning product contact us. Blendwell Chemicals sells to resellers and contract cleaners and has an enormous cleaning product range.

We manufacture our cleaning chemicals at our factory in Johannesburg, South Africa and we are your best local cleaning chemical wholesaler.

Cleaning Bathrooms

When it comes to cleaning bathrooms, the toilets and basins will need the most cleaning and depending on your facility this can be several times a day. Walls and windows will need cleaning less frequently.

Blendwell Chemicals Wac GP Cleaner will be a great option for cleaning bathroom walls. You can dilute this cleaning chemical 1:100 and then wipe the mixture onto the walls with a cloth. Your walls should be sparkling in no time.

For the windows, you can try Blendwell Chemicals Window Cleaner. This bathroom cleaning product is very strong and needs to be diluted. Dilute 1:10 with water. It is easier if you use this bathroom cleaning chemical in a spray bottle. You can spray the windows and don’t forget the mirrors with this bathroom cleaning product and wipe with a dry clean cloth.

To find out more about our range of bathroom cleaning chemicals contact Blendwell Chemicals today.

Basin Cleaning Chemicals

Cleaning the basins in your washroom facilities should be a pretty straight forward – even if they are really dirty. Basins are usually made out of ceramic but in some environments they may be stainless steel.

For ceramic basins, you can use a basin cleaning chemical such as Blendwell Chemicals Ammonia Cleaner. This cleaning product has a light abrasive quality to it so that it can remove extra dirt. First, wet the basin and use a cloth with a little Ammonia Cleaner dabbed onto it. Then rub all areas of the basin and don’t forget to wash the taps. When everything is clean, take another wet cloth and wipe away all the left over cleaning chemical. Your basin should be sparkling!

If the basin you are cleaning is stainless steel, you will not want to use a basin cleaning chemical with an abrasive in it as this will scratch the basin. You can use a product like Blendwell Chemicals Wac GP Cleaner. This cleaning product is a multipurpose cleaning chemical that can be used for so many different applications.  Mix Wac GP Cleaner with water. An ideal ratio to use for a bathroom would be one part cleaning product to 60 parts water. Use a soft cloth to clean the basin with this mixture.

For more information on basin cleaning chemicals please contact us. We offer a huge range of cleaning products at our factory in Midrand, South Africa. We are the best local cleaning chemical wholesaler.

Industrial Floor Cleaning

Industrial Floor Cleaning can take a whole lot of hard work! This is no easy task. There are a few different cleaning chemicals you can use depending on how dirty the floor is to begin with.

If you have no problem with using a highly caustic industrial floor cleaningchemical then you can opt for a product like Conclean. Caustic floor powders are not very pleasant to use but they are very effective at quickly removing grease and oil from floors.

You will want to mix this cleaning chemical with hot water at a ratio of 1:5 and work it into the floor with a stiff broom. Wash this industrial floor cleaning chemical away after use. Make sure you have used safety gear like goggles and gloves when using this cleaning chemical.

Please check out our industrial floor cleaning chemicals and contact us to place your order.

Industrial Cleaning - Pine Gel

There are some areas that need more cleaning than others. Industrial cleaning chemicals are not solely for workshop areas but any area where cleaning needs to be more powerful.

For really dirty bathrooms, floors or even animal sleeping areas, there is a Blendwell Chemicals cleaning product that I would recommend. Pine Gel is a fabulous industrial cleaningchemical that is able to deodorise, sanitise and clean in one process. This cleaning chemical contains pine oil which acts as a natural disinfectant that has excellent germ-killing properties. This makes this cleaning chemical that perfect choice for spaces that need a little extra cleaning power.

Pine Gel is a thick green gel that mixes easily with water and can be diluted to various ratios to suit whatever you are cleaning. It can also be used throughout your home.

How to Dilute Cleaning Chemicals

Diluting cleaning chemicals according to manufacturers is important for many reasons. If you dilute correctly, you will be able to clean better and faster. Your cleaning products will be more effective and you will save money by not wasting cleaning products and you will save time by not trying to clean with ineffective cleaning products.

It’s also important to remember when you’re diluting products to follow safety instructions. It may even be necessary to wear gloves, face shield or eye goggles, overall, boots and mask. Each cleaning product comes with different safety requirements so be sure to read the label.

The international standard for dilution is to have 10 litres of ready to use product. I have devised a table of dilution ratios to make this really easy.

Car Cleaning Chemicals

If you’re anything like me, you’ll only clean your car under extreme duress. Don’t get me wrong, I love having a clean car, I just don’t like doing it. But then, every couple of months I can’t take it anymore and I give my car a thorough clean.

Before I get started I get my kit together. This kit has at least 5 cloths (microfiber is better), a sponge, a bucket, vacuum cleaner with attachments, brush and pan and my set of cleaning products. My car cleaningproducts include: Car Wash for the outside followed up with Car Polish, Window Cleaner, Silicone D Fluid for dashboard and tyre cleaner, Carpet Shampoo for seats and mats and Ecolyte DG for cleaning the things my kids have touched after eating something. There are rules about not eating in my car but of course my kids find a way to ignore these rules when I’m not watching.

When my car is not that dirty, I can use Car Wash & Wax for cleaning the exterior. This car cleaning product is best used when you want to do a quick wash. Car Wash & Wax is a car wash product that has a built in wax which will replace the wax lost during washing. For a really quick clean I can use Waterless Car Wash which allows me to clean the outside of my car without using water. It’s so easy!

I could use Wac GP Cleaner for spot cleaning but I do prefer green products so I use Ecolyte DG Cleaner and I’m very happy with the results. If I had leather seats I would need Leather Cleaner and Leather Polish.

Blendwell Chemicals manufactures these car cleaning products in their factory in Midrand, South Africa.

For more information on car cleaningproducts, please visit contact Blendwell Chemicals, we will be able to supply you with all your car cleaning products.

How to clean your floors - degreasers

Cleaning floors in your home and office is a necessary part of daily cleaning. We can use a degreaser to clean tiled or vinyl floors on a regular basis. A floor degreaser will help lift the dirt off the floor and leave you with more time to do what you want.
In your home or office, you can use a floor
cleaning product like Blendwell Chemicals Cleardet. Cleardet is a light degreaser and is wonderful for cleaning tiled and vinyl floors.  First things first, sweep the floor thoroughly and make sure that most of the furniture is out of the way. In a 5 litre bucket put about 50ml of Cleardet and fill up with water. You can use a sponge or a spaghetti mop. Dip the mop in the bucket and clean away! Once floors are dry you can walk on them again.
Cleardet floor cleaning chemicals are manufactured by Blendwell Chemicals. Blendwell Chemicals has a huge range of cleaning products. Contact us now to find out more.

How to clean lights in your kitchen

Lights in the kitchen areas are easy to ignore when it comes to cleaning your kitchen. Slowly over time they get covered in general kitchen grime and the room actually starts to get darker. It’s important to give the lights in your kitchen a clean every few months to avoid that horrible grease build up.
First things first, switch off the lights. If your lights are inset into the ceiling then it will be important to regularly wipe these lights with a slightly damp cloth. Immediately wipe with a dry cloth. If your lights have covers that can be removed, then do so. The glass and metal parts can then be cleaned thoroughly.

Do not allow water to touch any electrical parts. Light cleaning may not work on these parts. Mix a solution of 50ml of Blendwell Chemicals Wac GP Cleaner in 5 litres of water.
Wipe or spray the solution onto the parts to be cleaned and leave for 5 minutes. Then wipe off with a soft cloth and do a final wipe with a clean cloth. If this does not work then add another 50ml of Wac GP Cleaner and allow to soak for an extra 10 minutes.
Be sure to wear gloves while cleaning kitchen lights. Also do not use any rough sponges or scouring pads as you may scratch the metal or glass that you are trying to clean.

How to clean with degreasers - machine parts

Engineering workshops often have a really hard time cleaning machine parts. These parts can be so heavily covered in grease that they are difficult to clean. Blendwell Chemicals has the perfect degreasing cleaning chemical for this job and is most commonly used in the engineering and mining sectors.
Black Turbo
is a cold tank cleaner and can seem quite expensive to use. However, this cleaning product is reusable and is incredibly effective on grease, carbon and paint. It also works really well on epoxy and enamel.
This industrial
cleaning chemical is mostly made up of solvents that strip the parts to be cleaned. There is also a built- in water seal which prevents unnecessary evaporation. This process should be done in a well ventilated area and full safety gear should be worn. Ideally, the part should be dipped into this cleaning chemical for about 30-60 minutes. It is best to use some type of hoist to lower the object to be cleaned into the chemical. This should be more than enough time to remove all the grease and grime. The item to be cleaned is then removed and rinsed clean with water.
Please be sure that when the time comes to replace this
machine cleaning chemical with a fresh one that the chemical is disposed of responsibly. A waste disposal company should be hired for this purpose to ensure that the chemical, which can be hazardous to the environment, does not cause any harm. This cleaning product can be sometimes be boosted to allow it to be used even more often rather than replaced.
Blendwell Chemicals manufactures
Black Turbo and a large range of industrial heavy duty degreasers.

Cleaning in schools - Washing hands

We all know how important it is to teach our children about cleanliness. Maintaining suitable levels of hygiene and cleaning bathrooms, helps prevent the spread of disease. It is imperative that schools continue to teach our children about hygiene and maintain the highest hygiene standards within the school.

It’s been proven that the cleaner the school, the better the attendance of students and teachers and therefore the results of the pupils. At the end of the day, we all want our children to do really well at school so insisting that our schools are clean is an important part of this process.

Ensuring there are good hand washing facilities is a great place to start. All children should be reminded that they should wash their hands before eating and after using the toilet. Students should have some soap and some dry towels available. Best choices would be a liquid or foam dispenser soap and a hand air dryer. Some people feel that air dryers take too long or don’t work so well but the newer generation types are usually quite quick and thorough. You could also supply paper towels. This is isn’t the greenest choice as these towels are usually made from paper but you can get paper towels that are made from recycled parts and use no bleach in their manufacture.

Just encouraging the washing of hands amongst students will help curb the spread of germs and bacteria.

Blendwell Chemicals has many wonderful hand cleaning products available. Please visit our website today for the options that will suit you.

Cleaning up the Office

In the past many of us might have thought that office cleaning was necessary purely because of what clients might think of our business. We did it because of the impression we would give people and that it would like nice for us.

Studies have been done on how a clean work environment affects employees. It has been discovered that the benefits are enormous. To the extent that the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work (EU-OSHA) has now launched the Healthy Workplaces Campaign. This campaign aims to make everyone in the workplace aware and work together to create better work environments.

The benefits of this include fewer accidents, less absenteeism, increased productivity, a happier and more productive workforce, improved relationships with suppliers and partners and a better reputation with investors, customers and the community. With all of those benefits its well worth the effort to clean up your act and create a workplace you want to be in. You could even take it one step further and go green. Using eco-friendly cleaning products will be even better for your work environment.

You’ll be able to find all the office cleaning chemicals you need at Blendwell Cleaning Solutions.

Why would you use a QAC disinfectant?

When your environment requires for you to be HACCP compliant it is important to choose the right cleaning chemicals. Only use cleaning products that are HACCP compliant otherwise you could run into serious trouble. Disinfecting surfaces in the food industry is something that needs to be done a lot and your products need to be really effective.

There are two types of disinfectants that can be used. QAC based disinfectants are disinfectants that use Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (QAC) as their base. These disinfectants have no smell which is a positive thing for food safe cleaners. These cleaning products are very easy to use and can be used at a low concentration. The use of these cleaning chemicals will not cause corrosion but have a very good kill rate.

Blendwell Cleaning Solutions has a large range of cleaning products in their h-range (HACCP compliant) of cleaning products and you can get more information on Food Safe Cleaning Chemicals.

We have a factory in Midrand, South Africa and we are your local cleaning chemical manufacturer!
