What is Ecolabel?

What is the Flower?
Ecolabel is an accreditation that is awarded to only the best environmentally friendly products. The Ecolabel mark is a flower and as such Ecolabel is often referred to as the Flower. Major criteria of the Flower being awarded is that the product or service that is awarded the Flower is equal to or better than the top five non-ecological leaders in the same market. This means that by carrying the Flower a company produces superior products that are environmentally friendly too.
When it comes to judging how environmentally friendly a product is there are many aspects of a product or service that are judged by Ecolabel. A product needs to be environmentally friendly through every stage of its production. The entire lifecycle of a product is investigated. It begins with which raw materials are selected and what their environmental impact is. The type of production process that is required to manufacture the product is closely scrutinized as well as how the product is distributed and the environmental impact that is created by transporting and storing the product. Finally, how the product is disposed of and the processes that may be required to do this safely are studied.
For  a company to be awarded the Ecolabel Flower is a huge honour  and requires a massive amount effort being applied to every aspect of one’s business. Delphis Eco has been awarded Ecolabel for some of its products. In South Africa, Blendwell Chemicals manufactures the Delphis Eco range under license to the UK. What can Blendwell Chemicals do for you? Part 2

What we can do for you – Toll Manufacturing
Blendwell Chemicals has been manufacturing cleaning chemicals for 20 years. Charles Marais started Blendwell Chemicals in 1990. He brought with him 30 years of experience in the cleaning chemical manufacturing industry.  It was part of his vision to create a company that could focus on creating high quality, unique cleaning chemicals.
Part of this vision required doing some very specific formulating in order to meet customer needs. Some customers have their own formulations which Blendwell Chemicals manufactures for them. Confidentiality Agreements are signed between the parties and Blendwell Chemicals then produces these cleaning chemicals according to the customer’s specifications. Other clients know what they want their cleaning product to do but do not know how to make it. Blendwell Chemicals will them be able to create a formulation for that cleaning product.
The customer often arranges for specific branded packaging for these products to be packed into. This is usually called own label manufacturing. Blendwell Chemicals will be able to pack these cleaning products so long as the packaging sizes are similar to what Blendwell Chemicals already packs into. Generally this would be 5 and 25 litre sizes.
We are able to help you every step of the way. We have excellent formulating abilities to create the cleaning product you want and can give you the peace of mind that your products will always be made the way they’re supposed to be. We are SABS and ISO9001 certified.

What can Blendwell Chemicals do for you? Part 1

Who is a Blendwell Chemicals Customer?

Blendwell Chemicals is a manufacturer of cleaning chemicals based in Halfway House, South Africa. We manufacture a huge range of cleaning products that are used in a huge variety of industries.
Blendwell Chemicals does not sell its cleaning products to the people who use them or end-users. Rather, Blendwell Chemicals has chosen to remain a wholesaler and sells to companies who resell their cleaning chemicals.
As a wholesaler, we do not have a brand of cleaning chemicals that we try to promote. It would then be up to the reseller to create their own brand and make a name for themselves. Our products are sold with information labels if required. Otherwise they can be purchased without any labeling and you can put on your own. Of course, it would be necessary for cleaning products to have safety information on the containers themselves which is why so many of our clients opt for our information label being on the product.
Our reseller customers range from traders who have added cleaning chemicals onto their existing range of supplies which they then sell to small businesses to traders who specialize in cleaning chemicals and sell to large corporations. It is up to each individual reseller as to how they want to market and sell their product. Blendwell chemicals can offer you the peace of mind that you are selling high quality cleaning product and give you great technical back-up for you to be able to close any deal.
Please visit our website www.blendwell.co.za for information on the huge range of cleaning chemicals that we manufacture and get in touch with us if you need any help setting up your new business as a reseller of cleaning chemicals. How to clean food preparation surfaces – degreasing

In the industrial kitchen and food factory there is a huge amount of cleaning required. It is imperative that the industrial kitchen gets cleaned frequently so as to avoid the growth of bacteria and enzymes. Should a food factory have a problem with bacterial growth, one can expect a huge loss of product.
The types of cleaning products used to clean an industrial kitchen and food factory need to be carefully selected. For cleaning an area that is going to come into direct contact with food, particularly meat or fish, it is a good idea to use a cleaning product that does not have any fragrance. Fragrance can help speed up and the growth of bacteria as well as contaminate the taste of the food.
A great product to use to clean these surfaces is Blendwell Chemicals Quot HF. Quot HF is a general –purpose detergent disinfectant. This makes it ideal for use in food preparation areas as cleaning and disinfecting can happen in one easy process. Quot HF will quickly lift off grease and oils for your table top. When using any cleaning product it is always a good idea to wear gloves and safety eyewear.
First, dilute 100ml of Quot HF in 4.9litres of water. Then you can either wipe or spray on the cleaning solution. Follow this with wiping the area with a clean damp cloth. The surface should now be perfectly clean.

How to clean an industrial oven - degreasers

In the industrial kitchen, cleaning is of paramount importance. Due to constant use, regular cleaning is vital. Industrial ovens often get coated in grease and oil as well as having the problem of completely burnt pieces of food stuck to the interior.
To clean an industrial oven, you can use a product like Blendwell Chemicals Alkali Cleaner. This cleaning chemical is caustic based and will do an excellent job of making your oven shine. Do not use Alkali Cleaner on domestic ovens or on self-cleaning ovens. When using this cleaning chemical be sure to always wear gloves and safety eyewear. In order to aid the cleaning power of this chemical it has been designed with a pH of around 12. This means that it should not come into contact with skin or eyes at all.
Mix 1 litre of Alkali Cleaner into 5 litres of water. Ideally you should use warm water. It is easiest to spray this solution onto the interior surfaces of your oven but you can also use a cloth to spread it on. Leave the solution to activate for about 20 minutes. After this time you should be able to wipe off with a cloth. If all the dirt has not been removed you can increase the concentration of the solution. Add another 50ml to your original solution. Repeat the process again. Be sure once the oven is clean that you wipe down the interior with a clean wet cloth to remove any chemical residue.
You would be able to buy Alkali Cleaner from Blendwell Chemicals in Johannesburg, South Africa. We are your local supplier. Please go to our website at www.blendwell.co.za for more information on all our cleaning chemicals.

How to clean your kitchen sink

It’s not a bad idea to give your kitchen sink a good clean every once in a while. Lucky it should see a good amount of soap so yours may not be too bad, but even soap can leave a residue.
It’s important to remember that most sinks can scratch so do not use abrasive cleaners. You should always wear gloves and be sure to not splash product in your eyes when doing any kind of cleaning. For lightweight cleaning, you could consider using a product like Blendwell Chemicals Cleardet. What’s great about Cleardet is that it does not have fragrance. This means that it will not interfere with any food that comes into contact with the surface that has been cleaned with it. Simply add 50ml to about 5litres of warm water and clean all the parts of your sink. Don’t forget to include the plug and plughole and the taps. Use a soft sponge or cloth to clean and rinse thoroughly with clean water when finished.
If you have some marks that don’t respond to this solution you can try a product like Blendwell Chemicals Maxikleen. You should use Maxikleen in the same way as Cleardet. Dilute 50ml in about 5 litres of warm water and only use a soft sponge or cloth to clean. Be sure to rinse thoroughly afterwards.
By  cleaning your sink regularly and making sure that solids are not washed down the drain you can limit the times you will need to unblock your drain. Be sure to check with the manufacturer of your sink that these cleaning methods are acceptable to their particular brand.
Blendwell Chemicals manufactures a huge range of cleaning products. They have a factory in Midrand South Africa. For more information on their range of cleaning products, please visit www.blendwell.co.za Blendwell Chemicals is your local supplier.
