What is green cleaning?

Delphis Eco wins another award!

Delphis Eco has won a top products award from Tomorrow’s Cleaning Magazine. Over the last year a panel of judges has been looking at cleaning products for every aspect of cleaning. The cleaning products that were chosen were cleaning products that achieve excellence in a competitive and challenging market. Products were chosen for being innovative as well as ease of use, safety and style.

The Multi-purpose Cleaner from the Delphis Eco range was chosen to be a top product. Multi-purpose Cleaner is an industrial strength cleaner that is accredited with the EU Ecolabel (also known as The Flower). This eco-friendly cleaning product is toxic chemical free, readily biodegradable and not tested on animals. Even though this is a green product it is extremely effective and works as well if not better than traditional cleaners. In a recent trial in a top UK hotel chain they found that it was rated 100% the same as if not better than the current product in use. It can be used to remove soil, dirt, grease and even fats from any washable hard surface.

How to clean your car - Part 6

There are many different parts on your car and all these different parts require different types of cleaning. The way you would clean the paintwork on your car would not be the same for the windows. Cleaning the windows is really easy and well worth the effort.

First things first, make sure you’re wearing your gloves and safety eyewear. A cleaning product that works really well for this is Blendwell Chemicals Window Cleaner. What’s nice about their Window Cleaner is that it is a dilutable cleaning product unlike the cleaning products you would buy in the supermarket. As a concentrated product you save money in the long run. You will need a spray bottle.

If your spray bottle is a litre size, fill the bottle with 100ml of Window Cleaner and the rest to be filled with water. Spray the windows of your car with this cleaning solution and wipe away with a squeegee. You will also need a cloth for the edges. If you do not have a squeegee, you could use a soft cloth. A microfiber cloth would be ideal as this will leave fewer streaks. It is best to start with the insides of your windows and when you’re finished you can move onto the outside windows. Usually the outside of the windows would be dirtier than the inside so start with the cleaner parts of the windows to avoid spreading the dirt to the cleaner windows. Always wipe the windows until they are dry for sparkly glass. Use another cloth to help dry if necessary.

Cleaning the windows of your car is a necessary step that will help you stay safe in your car. Blendwell Chemicals makes this fantastic Window Cleaner and many other cleaning chemicals. How to clean your car - Part 5

Previously we discussed tips on car cleaning. Here are some more to help you along.

Having proper cloths and sponges will also give you better results. An extra large sponge will make washing your car a lot easier. I’m not talking about the type of sponge you might use in the bath but rather something about 3 times bigger than that. Any cloths that you use will need to be soft cloths that do not have ridges on them. If the cloth is not very soft then you could end up accidently scratching the paintwork. It is preferable to have cloths and sponges that you only use for washing your car. If these items are used to clean other things then before you clean your car give the cloths and sponge a thorough clean so that they do not spread chemicals from the other detergents they come into contact with.

It’s also a good idea to use different cloths for cleaning different areas of your car. If you clean the wheels you’ll have a really dirty cloth or sponge and you cannot then clean the rest of the car with that. Rather invest in a sponge for paintwork, a soft cloth for the windows to be followed by a squeegee and then another cloth for the wheels. You will also need a separate set of cloths for cleaning plastic parts inside and out. For buffing the car after cleaning, it would be a great idea to buy a chamois. A microfiber cloth could act as a replacement for buffing. For the windows, a small squeegee will give you great results.

On the inside of the car, having a powerful vacuum makes the job infinitely easier. The vacuum having the correct nozzles to fit into all the small spaces in your car will help too. Always use a fresh cloth for the inside parts of your car. Some people like to use a liquid silicon product to shine the inside plastic parts. I find an aerosol spray is easiest to use and it’s really quick with less chance of making a mess if I drop it.

These tips should go a long way to help you with your car cleaning. If you have any more please let me know. You can find all the cleaning chemicals you need for cleaning your car at Blendwell Chemicals. How to clean your car - Part 4

Making cleaning your car easier

Whatever you happen to be cleaning there are always tricks and tips to make the job happen faster and easier. Cleaning your car is no different. If you don’t do it right you will definitely be left with results that are less than desirable.

When cleaning your car it’s a good idea to find the right spot to clean it. You need to be close to a tap so that your hose will be able to reach all the way around the car. Your car being wet thoroughly and rinsed properly is going to make it easier to clean. Using a proper spray attachment on your hose will help – it definitely makes cleaning the wheels easier. This spot also needs to be out of direct sunlight. If you wash your car in full sun, the chemical dries too fast on it and will leave streaks.

What you clean your car with can also affect how easily it cleans. Do not wash your car with dish washing liquid. This type of detergent will simply strip all the wax off your car and not replace any of it. Car wash cleaning products should contain some wax to replace what it removes and therefore be gentler on the paintwork. Always use products designed for car cleaning.

These tips should give you a great start to a clean car. There will be another article with further tips following shortly so look out for it. You would be able to buy everything you need to clean cars from Blendwell Chemicals. We have a factory in Midrand, South Africa and manufacture a huge range of cleaning chemicals. How to clean your car - Part 3

There are many different ways to clean your car and we have now discussed two ways but now we will talk about how to polish your car. Polishing your car just gives it that extra sparkle. There is nothing quite like a coat of polish to make it shine.

A product like Blendwell Chemicals Car Polish can easily revive old paint work as well as help remove small scratches. Obviously, if you have scratched right through the paintwork you will need to re spray to get it looking like new but minor scratches can disappear. Applying a coat of Car Polish will also help repel water from your car. Even though this product has been designed to be gentle on skin as always I recommend you make sure to wear gloves when using this product.

After washing your car and making sure it’s dry, you can begin to polish your car. Use a soft cloth to apply a small amount of polish to a small area of your car. If you try to use too much polish at once you will find that it will take a really long time to polish your car and it will be rather messy too.  Make sure to cover all areas of paintwork. When the polish is dry you can use another clean soft cloth to rub off the polish and buff your car. You could use a buffing machine if you have one. Make sure you haven’t missed any spots. Your car will now be looking more fabulous than ever.

How to clean your car - Part 2

In the first part we discussed using Blendwell Chemicals Car Wash to clean your car. This is a really effective and quick way of cleaning your car but if you want a little more sparkle you may want to consider using Blendwell Chemicals Car Shampoo & Wax.

This awesome car cleaning chemical makes washing and polishing happen in one step. This cleaning product contains powerful dirt removing agents as well as a soft emulsified wax. Normally, when you wash your car with any foaming detergent you will remove some of the wax that is on the car and helps prevent dirt from sticking to it. When you use Car Shampoo & Wax you replace that wax that would have been washed away and you are left with a fantastic shine.

If washing by hand you can pour about 200ml into a five litre bucket. Fill the bucket with hot or cold water. As always, wear gloves and safety eyewear. Hose the car down to wet it and with a sponge or soft cloth wash the car with the cleaning solution you have just mixed up. When you have finished washing the whole car you can rinse it with clean water from the hose. A quick wipe with a dry cloth or chamois will help finish the cleaning process and allow the car to dry.

How to clean your car - Part1

Some people are really good at cleaning their cars. Other people are really good at making sure they get someone else to clean their car and then there are some people who just don’t clean their cars. I’m not prepared to say which type of person I am but you can make your own assumption.

Having a clean car is a great feeling and doesn’t really take that much time. Blendwell Chemicals manufactures a range of car cleaning products. For a good, quick clean you could use Blendwell Chemicals Car Wash. This is a really easy cleaning product to use and it contains some powerful dirt removing agents. It can be used with hot or cold water and does not leave streaks on paintwork or windows. This cleaning product has been designed to be really gentle on hands but as with all cleaning products I like to recommend that you wear gloves and safety eyewear.

Car Wash can be used when washing by hand or when cleaning through a car washing machine. We will focus here on cleaning by hand. Pour 125ml of Car Wash into a 5 litre bucket and fill up with water. Start by hosing the car down to get the loose dirt off and then you can begin with a sponge dipped in the cleaning solution you just mixed up. Once you have cleaned the whole car hose down with fresh water and then rub with a clean cloth or chamois and leave to dry.

Your car should look pretty fabulous by now. How to freshen up your space

It’s the beginning of the year and you have probably had a good clear out session of much of the old stuff that you don’t want hanging around your office and home. With this marvelous clean out having happened it may be necessary to also freshen up the air around your space too.

Blendwell Chemicals does some fabulous air fresheners to use in your office, home, bathroom, just about anywhere you want to freshen up. There are two different products you can use. One is a dilutable liquid air freshener called Air Fresh and the other is a non-dilutable product called Aero.

For both products you will need to have a spray bottle. Please use gloves and safety eyewear when handling these products. Air Fresh is diluted one part cleaning product to one part water. This solution is then poured into the spray bottle. Air Fresh comes in a variety of fragrances such as cherry, lavender, pot pourri, jasmine and lemon.

Aero is not made to be diluted and can be poured straight into the spray bottle.  Aero also comes in fragrances such as lemon, cherry, pot pourri, lavender and jasmine.

You can then use your spray bottle to spray your fragrance all around the space you want to freshen up. You can use it as often as you like. Just make sure that any fabrics in that space do not become soaked as the fabric may be affected. A light mist should not be a problem.

How to clean up for school - Part2

In this part I will discuss a few more items that may require a big clean. If there are any other things that you think of that you’d like to clean before the school year gets underway just let me know.
Lunch boxes are another area where kids can let things get out of hand. Teach your kids to clean out their lunch boxes everyday to avoid morning chaos. All food that was not eaten can be put away and anything should be thrown away is thrown away by them. They can also give the inside of the lunch box a quick wipe every day. A thorough clean every now and again is necessary with a lunch box. Hard plastic lunch boxes are really easy to clean. You could use any of Blendwell Chemicals dishwashing liquids but considering my little angel/monster will be eating out of this lunch box I prefer to use Blendwell Chemicals Dishwash Antibac. This cleaning product is a dishwashing liquid with the added benefit of an antibacterial agent. It is a very concentrated cleaning product so you only need to use a little. Simply wash your plastic lunch box as you would wash any of your dishes. If your kids have the soft fabric cooler bag type of lunch box you can use the same dish wash cleaning solution to clean it. Simply wipe down the inside and outside with a cloth dipped in the cleaning solution. Wipe with a dry dish towel afterwards to prevent it from getting too wet.
Juice bottles can also be cleaned using the Dishwash Antibac. Wash like you would any other dish or even wash in the dishwasher if the juice bottle can be washed there. When it is clean I like to then leave the juice bottle out in the sun for a few hours. Our harsh South African sun is great from killing germs that linger in dark, damp places. You can also do this with your lunch box but remember to leave it open. Do not put any lids on while items are out in the sun as it will simply trap the germs inside.
It will also be necessary to clean up school shoes. Hopefully your kids have already learnt how to polish their shoes and they can do this once a week. On a Friday afternoon or Sunday evening is probably the best time to make it part of their routine. If you find that their school shoes still have some extra scuff marks you can try using a pencil eraser on these marks. This usually works quite well. If you still can’t get them out try using a crayon in the same colour as the shoe to at least make it look better. This also works with belts.
You are now going to have a kid ready for school with everything sparkling and bright for the new year ahead. Best of luck to all of you.

How to clean vinyl floors - Part 3

Now that you have those floors looking fabulously clean and shiny, you can spend a little time admiring your work. Unfortunately, like everything, it won’t stay looking like that forever. You will need to do some maintenance.
The next time your floor needs some cleaning after using the Sureshine polymer polish, I suggest you use a cleaning product like Blendwell Chemicals Clean Mop for maintaining that shiny floor. This is a really easy product to use. As with all cleaning products, please ensure that you wear safety eyewear, gloves and suitable clothes and shoes.
You will need to pour one cup or 250ml of Clean Mop into a bucket and fill up the bucket to make a quantity of 10 litres. Using a mop or a cloth wash the floor and allow to dry. It’s as easy as that!
Blendwell Chemicals manufactures this cleaning product and many others. For more information on the cleaning products in their range please visit www.blendwell.co.za Blendwell Chemicals can be found in Johannesburg, South Africa. We are your local cleaning chemical supplier!

How to clean vinyl floors - Part 1

Keeping vinyl floors clean and shiny is not as hard as you think. This type of flooring is often found in hospitals, offices, shops and homes. These floors can handle a great deal of liquid being spilt on them and general wear and tear without getting damaged. They make the ideal type of flooring for many spaces.
If liquid polymer polish has been used it will be necessary to use a stripper as the floor will not look its best with the build-up that will result. An ideal cleaning product to use is Blendwell Chemicals Stripper. This cleaning product will not be able to strip a hard wax polish but works brilliantly with a liquid polymer polish.
Depending on the area to be cleaned you may wish to use Blendwell Chemicals Stripper NA. This cleaning product does not contain ammonia which makes it ideal for use in hospitals where a smell of ammonia cannot be tolerated.
To mix up a 10 litre solution of cleaning product, take 500ml (half a litre) and put it in an empty bucket. Then fill up the bucket to make it 10 litres in total. Using a mop, cover the floor with this solution. Leave for 10 minutes to allow the cleaning product to react. Then take a soft broom or a mop and rub the floor. It will be necessary to rinse the floor with water after using this cleaning product. Please make sure that this process is done when floors have been cordoned off and people will not accidently slip on the wet floor. Please ensure that safety eyewear, gloves and shoes are worn when using this cleaning product.
For more information on this and other floor cleaning products please visit www.blendwell.co.za Blendwell Chemicals is a manufacturer of many cleaning chemicals and is based near Pretoria very close to the Midrand Gautrain station. We are your local cleaning products supplier!

How to clean your office

It’s a new year and it’s very important to start this year off with things being fresh and sparkling. The space you work in is an important part of that as you probably spend much of your time. Your office probably needs a little clean as no doubt last year ended in some chaos.
First start off with sorting out all the paperwork that lying around. Throw away things you do not need and all the things you want to keep can go into a single pile to be filed later. It’s important to see the surface of your desk and other shelves and counters in your office. Start with cleaning these surfaces. It will probably be best to clean with a light detergent solution.  First you may need to use a dry dust cloth to wipe down books and other things that should not get wet. For other areas, something like Blendwell’s Perfume Cleaner will help with cleaning and leave a lovely fragrance. Pour 50ml and fill up with water to make one litre of solution. Take a clean cloth a dip it into this solution and wring out. Then wipe all your surfaces to clean them. You can use this solution to clean any messes on walls, chairs and floors. Just about anywhere. If your floors can be mopped then you can use this solution to clean them. Otherwise give them a really thorough vacuum.
What a fantastic way to get your new year started. Clean office, clear mind. Best of luck for the year ahead!
You will find that Perfume Cleaner and many other fabulous products are part of the Blendwell Chemicals range. For more information on this and all the other fabulous cleaning products manufactured by Blendwell Chemicals please visit www.blendwell.co.za  Our factory is in Midrand, South Africa.
