How to clean small machine parts using a hot soak tank cleaner

Hot soak tank cleaners are not as expensive to but as cold soak tank cleaners but they do require heating. This heating of the cleaning product require time and electricity which can cost you in the long run. It may be easier for you as storage of these cleaning products is not as complicated as cold soak tank cleaners.

If you have decided that a hot soak tank cleaner is the way to go and you have small engine parts to clean you could use a product like Bupi Cleaner. For small parts, simply mix the powder at the right ratio to water and heat up to 80 degrees Celsius. Once your solution has reached the required temperature, put the parts into the dip basket and gently lower the basket into the heated cleaning chemical. Leave for two hours. Remove and rinse thoroughly.

For larger engine parts, this cleaning product can also be used to spray on the items to be cleaned. This industrial cleaning product works well with most metals and has been designed to be gentler than some of our other soak tank cleaners.

How to clean machine parts - cold soak tank cleaners

If you have decided to clean using a cold method of soak tank cleaner then you have opted to use a solvent based cleaning product in your workshop. Blendwell Cleaning Solutions manufactures a couple of different types of soak tank cleaners and Black Turbo was created to work as a cold soak tank cleaner.

Because this industrial cleaning product is mostly made from solvents it can easily evaporate. We have made ours with a water seal to help prevent evaporation. It is still important to store this product correctly to ensure its longevity. Black Turbo is very effective on epoxy and enamels but also works well on carbon, grease and paint. This cleaning product is ideal for when you need to clean larger engine parts. You would need to have a large drum of Black Turbo and a dip basket that can be gently lowered into the exposed industrial cleaning product. The parts to be cleaned should remain in the solvent for anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours – depending on your parts to be cleaned. Once removed from the cleaning chemical you will need to rinse thoroughly with water before painting or working on your machine parts.

How to clean machine parts

Cleaning machine parts to be worked on or before refitting requires some very serious cleaning chemicals. The cleaning products required are called soak tank cleaners and they need to be able to effectively cut through huge amounts of grease for the machine parts to clean enough.

Machine parts are usually cleaned using a method called soak tank cleaning. This involves dipping a basket containing the relevant machine parts into a drum containing the cleaning product. These soak tank cleaners can be hot or cold. Typically a cold soak tank cleaner would be solvent based. This usually requires a larger financial outlay initially however if the product is used and stored correctly it can last for as long as five years.

Hot soak tank cleaners are water-based and do not cost as much as cold tank cleaners. There is a rather large running cost on this cleaning product. Hot soak tank cleaners will need to be heated to a temperature of around 70 degrees Celsius before the dip basket can be lowered into the cleaning product. Once it has been heated up adequately the dip basket can be lowered into the cleaning product and may need to stay there for up to two hours. This can equate to five hours of heating.  With electricity costs being what they are these days this can add up to a huge electricity bill.
