The Rules of Cleaning -3+4

Following the rules of cleaning is usually really easy and it saves so much time and money in the long run. It’s well worth it.

3.  Always use safety gear. If you are cleaning, you will need to be careful. Some people are also more sensitive than others and just washing dishes with ordinary dishwashing detergent can send some people into a bout of eczema or dermatitis. Even if you are not one of those people, you may react to a specific cleaning product so it’s better to be safe than sorry. Basic safety gear should include rubber gloves and safety glasses. Your eyes can be accidently exposed to cleaning products. While you are cleaning or pouring cleaning chemicals they can splash accidentally. Some cleaning products contain acids that can seriously damage eye tissue. Even if cleaning products are skin friendly, lasting and continuous exposure can cause the skin to dry out. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

4.   If you are not sure about the way you are going to clean something, then do a test. This is best done on a small inconspicuous area of the item being cleaned. This will be necessary if the item is delicate and easily damaged by a cleaning product. Testing should also let you know if the item is colour fast and what the best method will be.

The rules of cleaning

Cleaning needn’t be a horrible chore. Regardless of what you are cleaning – whether it is your home, office, factory, shop or workshop – the same rules apply. If you follow the basic rules of cleaning it will go faster and you’ll get better results. Being prepared and using the right cleaning products in the right way will save you time, money and avoid damage to yourself, the item being cleaned and even the environment.

The rules:

1.  Use the correct cleaning product for the job at hand.
This can save you hours of work. It is worth investing in the correct cleaning products for each of the things that you clean. Trying to clean a well-used fry top with dishwashing liquid is never going to give you great results no matter how concentrated the dishwashing liquid is. It simply does not have enough degreasing power to cut through the fats and grease and burnt on carbon. Using the correct products will leave you with a hygienic work environment. There have been studies that prove that work environments that are clean have better attendance and performance from employees. Now isn’t that a good reason to clean up your act?

2. Use the cleaning product the correct way
Using the cleaning product correctly will mean that you will need to use the correct equipment for the item you need to clean and dilute the cleaning product correctly. Read the instructions of your cleaning product. Some items can be easily damaged and this can cost an enormous amount of money to replace. For example, don’t use a scouring pad to clean a plastic container or a traditional mop to clean laminate floors. By not diluting the cleaning product correctly you will also waste the cleaning product. By not diluting enough, the cleaning product will be stronger than it needs to be and can cause damage to the item as well as putting extra pressure on the environment when it is thrown out. By diluting too much, the cleaning product may be ineffective.

What type of floors do I have?

In order to be able to effectively clean your floor, you will first need to know what type of floor you have.

There are several different categories that your floor may fall under. Flexible floors will include vinyl and linoleum. Hard floors can be porous or non-porous. Porous floors will be marble, raw cement, unglazed ceramics, terracotta and brick. These floors can often stain easily. Non-porous hard floors will be glazed ceramic, terrazzo, granite, slate, sealed marble and sealed cement. Stainless steel can sometimes be used for flooring in factories. Carpets and laminate flooring also require their own special ways to be cleaned.

Blendwell Cleaning Solutions has a fabulous range of cleaning chemicals perfect for all types of floors. Things to remember when cleaning floors

It’s always a good idea to keep safety in mind when cleaning your floors. Floor cleaning should ideally happen when there are going to be the least amount of people walking over the area being cleaned. Sometimes this is not possible so it will be necessary to put out safety signs so that people can be aware of the wet and probably slippery floor so that you can avoid accidents.

If you have followed the basic principles of cleaning by using the correct cleaning product in the correct way you will have checked what type of floor you are cleaning. Is the hard floor sealed or porous? This will greatly affect the choice of cleaning product used. A porous floor will hold oils and fats in the pores of the flooring and makes the floor more susceptible to surface contaminants. The oils that remain on the floor will make it more likely to be slippery.

How to use floor cleaning products

As with all cleaning, there are always the basic principles of cleaning that should be followed so that you can get the best results for your effort.

The most important thing to remember is to use the correct cleaning product. Using the incorrect cleaning product can be very frustrating as you may scrub away for ages and not get anything cleaned. Or worse, you may ruin your floors!

It is equally important to know how to use the cleaning product that is recommended for the job at hand. The temperature of the water that you use to dilute the cleaning chemical can be very important in certain cases. Some things just have to be heated to clean while others work better cold. You’ll need to know how much to agitate your cleaning product. You may be able to just pour the mixed cleaning product onto the floor to be cleaned or you may have to mix it really well and work it into the surface. You’ll want to know how long to leave the cleaning chemical on your floor. Sometimes cleaning products need time to activate and start working after they have been applied. Finally, you will also need to be aware of how to apply the cleaning product. You’ll need to know how much to dilute the cleaning chemical.

If you follow all these steps you will be able to have a clean floor with the least amount of effort. Blendwell Cleaning Solutions manufactures all the floor cleaning chemicals you will need to get your floor looking great. Please visit www.blendwell.co.za/Floor_Care_Cleaning_Chemicals for more information on floor cleaning products. Blendwell is your best local cleaning products wholesaler.

Why do we clean floors?

Today there are so many different types of flooring options for our home, office and factory. Knowing how to clean different types of floors will help you save time and money. Of course, what you do in that space will also affect what you use to clean the floors.

Firstly, why would we need to clean the floor? Well, it looks nice when the floor is clean. But appearance isn’t the only reason. It’s more hygienic to have a clean floor. We’ve all done a three second rule when accidentally dropping food on the floor (although some of us will not admit to this) but this could be taking a serious risk if doing this on a dirty factory floor as opposed to your kitchen floor that had just been cleaned. We also clean floors for safety reasons. When something oily, greasy or even wet remains on a floor it can pose a safety risk as someone could easily slip and hurt themselves.

Blendwell Cleaning Solutions has all the different types of cleaning products you will need to clean any floor. For more information on the floor cleaning products we manufacture please visit www.blendwell.co.za/Floor_Care_Cleaning_Chemicals. We are the best local cleaning products wholesaler.
