Industrial Cleaning - Soak Tank Cleaners - Powder 235

When choosing a soak tank cleaner it is important to select the right one for the job you have in mind. Your budget may help you decide what type of soak tank cleaner to go for as well as your facilities. A cold tank cleaner is more expensive initially but has low running costs and does not require specialised heating equipment.

Powder 235 is a powder that is diluted in water between 10 and 15%. The solution then needs to be heated to around 80 degrees Celsius. When the temperature has been reached the parts to be cleaned can be submerged in the dip basket and left for as long as necessary.  Remove when clean and rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Powder 235 is not recommended for aluminium, bronze, brass or other special alloys. Powder 235 does work on all ferrous metals.

Industrial Cleaning - Soak Tank Cleaners - Bupi Cleaner

Blendwell Chemicals manufactures a range of cleaning chemicals for industrial cleaning. One of the soak tank cleaners that we manufacture is Bupi Cleaner and this chemical requires a high temperature for cleaning effectively.

This industrial cleaner works well as a soak tank cleaner for small engine parts as well as being able to spray it onto engines using a high pressure cleaner called a bupi gun. Bupi Cleaner works well with most metals but is not as strong as some of the other soak tank cleaners we manufacture. This cleaning chemical can struggle a little when stripping paint but is also not as harsh on the metal being cleaned.

When using as a soak tank cleaner, mix the white powder with water and heat up to 80 degrees Celsius. Place parts into a metal basket and gently lower the basket into the solution. Leave in place for 2 hours and remove and rinse thoroughly. This cleaning chemical can also be sprayed onto parts to be cleaned.

Industrial Cleaning - Soak Tank Cleaners - Turbo 55

When deciding how to clean engine parts it is important to decide if you want to use a hot or cold soak tank cleaner. We have previously discussed hot tank cleaners and if these don’t sound like they are right for you, you may want to consider maybe using one of our cold tank cleaners.

Turbo 55 is a cold tank cleaner which is suitable for cleaning and stripping small parts such as carburettors, diesel pumps and other car and diesel parts. This cleaning chemical is ideal for use in a small tank. Items to be cleaned will need to be dipped for 30-60 minutes and rinsed thoroughly with clean water afterwards. This cleaning chemical is highly effective on epoxy and enamels. It will leave carbon in a soft state for easy removal.

Industrial Cleaning - Soak Tank Cleaners - Black Turbo

It ‘s important to choose the right type of soak tank cleaner for the job you have in mind.

If you’re needing to clean larger engine parts then ideally you should look to use a cleaning chemical that Blendwell Chemicals calls Black Turbo. Black Turbo is really effective on epoxy and enamels and works very well on carbon, grease and paint. This cleaning chemical has a built in water seal which can help the solvent layer of this cleaning chemical not evaporate so it is necessary to close the container when not in use. Black Turbo has a high vapour pressure so it’s important to take care when opening the container.

Industrial Cleaning - Soak Tank Cleaners - Part 2

I have previously discussed the basics of soak tank cleaners. There are 2 different types – hot and cold soak tank cleaners. Cold tank cleaners cost more initially but have much lower running costs.

It’s really important to look after cold tank cleaners to make sure that the chemical does not evaporate. All cold tank cleaners are made up of two separate layers - one solvent and one water –based. When not in use it is vital that this cleaning chemical is properly sealed so that there is no evaporation. The ratio between the water and solvent layer must be maintained. The water layer is there to act as a water seal to prevent evaporation of the solvent layer below. There needs to be 18% water and the rest should be solvent. To ensure that this ratio is maintained the rod test is very effective. Simply take a metal rod that has been painted. Put this rod in the drum of soak tank cleaner and push it down until it touches the bottom. When you pull the rod out the part where the paint has been removed will show how much of the drum is filled with solvent.

To use soak tank cleaners, both hot and cold, you will need to have a dip basket. This dip basket will need to have some holes in it so that when the basket is removed from the drum the chemical does not come with it. This basket will be lowered into the soak tank and left there for anything from 20 minutes to 2 hours. After enough time has passed to clean the items in the basket, raise the basket from the drum and allow for any remaining chemical to drain out of the holes in the basket back into the drum. The parts that were in the basket will need to be thoroughly rinsed with water before repainting or working on them.

Industrial Cleaning - Soak Tank Cleaners

Cleaning in an industrial environment can be a very complicated process. First, you will need to assess the level of dirt, grease and grime you need to clean. Typically, in an industrial environment like a factory or workshop there is an excessive amount of grease and oil to deal with. Parts will regularly need to be cleaned before they can be worked on or refitted to engines.
There are two ways to do soak tank cleaning. You can use a solvent based chemical or you can use a water-based chemical.

A solvent based cleaning chemical is expensive to purchase in the first place however it’s running costs are dramatically less and can save you money in the long term. If correctly stored and used the cleaning chemical could last as long as five years. This cleaning chemical can evaporate so it needs to be properly covered and sealed when not in use.  Blendwell Chemicals has made all of their solvent soak tank cleaners to have a water layer on top to help prevent evaporation. This water layer acts as a water seal.

A water-based soak tank cleaner is not expensive to buy but costs a lot to use. It would need to be heated to 70 degrees Celsius and that alone can take 3 hours. The temperature must be maintained for as long as parts are soaking which could be up to 2 hours. Realistically you would be looking at about 5 hours of electrical heating which with rising electricity costs can become really expensive very fast.

Industrial Cleaning - Engine Cleaning - Maxikleen

When cleaning engines, there are times when you are going to need some extra cleaning power. Even with the toughest grease and grime you can still use a water-based degreaser for this job.

Blendwell Chemicals manufactures a cleaning chemical called Maxikleen. As the name suggests this cleaning chemical gives you a maximum clean. Maxikleen is a very powerful cleaning chemical that is still a water-based degreaser. Maxikleen complies well above all SABS 1344 requirements.

When using this cleaning chemical to clean engines you would do best to mix this product at a dilution of 1:10. So to mix a 5 litre solution you will need to mix 500ml of Maxikleen to 4,5 litres of water and you’re ready to go with cleaning that engine.

Industrial Cleaning - Engine Cleaning - Electrical Cleaner

When cleaning machine and engine parts selecting the right type of cleaning chemical is really important. In instances where cleaning of fine machine parts is required you may want to consider using Blendwell Chemicals Electrical Cleaner.

This cleaning chemical is a solvent blend that is ideal for use where you may have some electrical parts. It can be used in areas where water cannot be tolerated. Due to the strong blend of solvents in this cleaning product, it should always be used in areas that are well-ventilated and if used for long periods consider using breathing apparatus.

It is best to spray or brush on this cleaning chemical and it has been designed to simply evapourate when cleaning is done.

How to clean your fridge

Giving the inside of your fridge a good scrub down once in a while is really necessary. Every now and again something that should have been thrown out ages ago gets forgotten in the back and begins to grow. This can quickly compromise the other food that you have in your fridge.

If this has happened or if you are doing a routine clean it's a good idea to opt for a disinfectant cleaner. This will help kill any germs that remain after offensive foods have been removed. For this job, I recommend a cleaning product that Blendwell Chemicals manufactures for Delphis Eco called Anti-bacterial Sanitiser. Blendwell Chemicals manufactures the Delphis Eco range of cleaning chemicals under license to the UK. This incredibly effective anti-bacerial and anti-viral sanitser is certified to carry the SABS 1853 mark. You know that you can't go wrong with using this cleaning product as it is a fabulous disinfectant as well as being eco-friendly

To clean your fridge simply pour 50ml into a one litre spray bottle and fill up with water. As always wear regular household gloves. Remove food from your fridge and spray all surfaces. Leave on for a minute or two and then wipe off with a clean soft cloth. Make sure you pay extra attention to any areas where food is left behind. You can leave the sprayed area for a little longer and then wipe away.

Industrial Cleaning - Engine Cleaning - RTU

When cleaning engines you will need to decide on what type of chemical product you will need to use. Choosing between a solvent cleaner or a water-based cleaner will be decided upon depending on what level of grease you are dealing with and how sensitive is the environment you are cleaning in.

If you have chosen a solvent cleaner then you may want to consider a cleaning chemical like Blendwell Chemicals RTU. RTU is a ready to use solvent degreaser. You will not need to dilute this product before use. RTU is solvent based and has added emulsifiers and degreasers. This cleaning chemical has exceptional grease cutting power and does not leave any residue behind. RTU is best used when brushed onto the surface to be cleaned or you can also use a spray gun. Leave the chemical on the surface undisturbed for 10 minutes and then wash off with excess water.

Industrial Cleaning - Engine Cleaning

When cleaning engines, there are a few different ways you can approach this cleaning job.
This is generally a huge task and to choose the right method for you is important.
If you have a high pressure cleaner you can use it for cleaning or alternatively if you do not you may want to brush or spray the chemical onto the surfaces to be cleaned.

You could also use a dip tank as we will discuss in detail later (this can also be called a soak tank cleaner). Your final option would then be a parts cleaner (also sometimes called a bupi machine).

When it comes to the cleaning chemical you would want to use you then have the option of solvent – based or water – based.  Typically a solvent works better and faster. The problem is when you have cleaned the engine and rinse off the used cleaning chemical then runs into the drain and ultimately into watercourses. A solvent has a much greater negative impact on the environment than a water-based degreaser.

One more thing to watch out for is if you have chosen a solvent degreaser, make sure that it is a mixture of degreaser and detergent. When the product is rinsed off, the cleaning chemical will go with it. This means that there will be no residue left behind. This residue can be a huge attractor of dirt if left in place.

Industrial Cleaning - Hand Cleaning - Part 4

Hand cleaning when working in a workshop or other industrial environment can be a huge headache. Ordinary soap and water will not be able to get through all the grease and grime the skin gets exposed to and aggressive scrubbing can be painful.

Blendwell Chemicals has created a hand cleaner that can help. Bead Hand Cleaner is a new type of gel hand cleaner. Some people find that a grit hand cleaner is harsh on their skin. These new poly beads are much gentler and are still very effective at removing ingrained dirt. The hand cleaner itself has also been upgraded and now contains coconut derivatives and lanolin for extra skin conditioning. Another advantage of this hand cleaner is that the beads float in water. When rinsing the product off your hands the drains will not get clogged with beads as they float away with the water.
