How to wash your hands properly

For ordinary use, you should wash your hands for at least 30 seconds – a quick dip under a running tap is not enough. For office and home use I would recommend using soap like Blendwell Cleaning Solutions Pink Hand Soap. This is a good cleaner while still being gentle on the skin.

Wet your hands and apply soap.  Rub this soap between your palms and rub the top of your hands. Open your fingers of both hands and lock your hands together keeping your fingers straight. Move your hands up and down so that the spaces between your fingers are cleaned. Don’t forget to wash your thumbs. Also make sure to include your wrists and forearms. You may need to use a soft brush to clean your finger nails if they are dirty. Rinse all areas with fresh water when you’re done and dry thoroughly preferably with a disposable towel. If at home make sure your hand towel is changed out regularly to avoid recontamination.

This is a great method to teach your children and the earlier they start doing it the more of a habit it is for them. Even a child of two can manage to wash this way. For them, it’s quite fun and you can sing a little silly ‘wash your hands’ song as you do it with them.
