5 tips to clean the inside of your car

Cleaning your car on the inside needn’t be the biggest chore. Follow some simple guidelines and you’ll be done before you know it.

  • Make sure you have everything you need close at hand before you get started. Running around trying to find another cloth or a plug for the vacuum cleaner will just frustrate you and make you less likely to finish the job.
  • Clean from top to bottom. Dirt and dust will drop. If you start at the bottom, dust and dirt will be on those surfaces by the time you finish and you’ll have to start again.
  • Always do a spot test if you are not sure about using a particular product. Select an area that is not easily seen and test your cleaning product there.
  • Make rules for your children about what they are and are not allowed to do in your car. Things like children eating in the car can make your car really dirty, really fast. If your kids have to eat in the car then try to find “cleaner” foods for them to eat. A toddler eating a banana or chocolate in the car could be disastrous.
  • Put on some music and sing along while you work – it will seem like less of a chore.

I hope these tips help you with cleaning your car.

What are the different types of green cleaning products?

Nowadays there seem to be so many different green cleaningproducts on the market. There are a large variety of brands available. Choosing green cleaning products can seem like a daunting task. I would like to explain some of the different types of green cleaning products you can buy today.

Chemical cleaners: Most cleaning products are chemical cleaners. They are made up of a variety of ingredients that when blended together are able to clean. These cleaners require a process of washing to work. Time, physical energy, a chemical process to remove dirt and sometimes a higher temperature will be required for cleaning to take place. Green cleaning products should be made up of eco-friendly ingredients (or eco-friendly chemicals).

Biological cleaners: The cleaning ability of these cleaners comes from the addition of enzymes. Specific enzymes are added to these products to dramatically improve their cleaning power. They require a seriously reduced amount of time, physical energy, chemical processes and heat to clean. They are effective cleaners that work fast and efficiently.

Anolytes and catholytes: These powerful cleaners have been passed through an electrochemical process to become effective cleaners. Blendwell Chemicals supplies the Eco-Lyte range which is a simple combination of salt and water that has undergone a specialised electrical process. The result is two products: a natural disinfectant that is more powerful than bleach and a superb cleaning product. The wonderful thing about these products is that after use they biodegrade into the environment as their original components – simple salt and water. They pose no threat to people, animals or the environment.

Biological cleaners - Enzyme cleaners

Most green cleaning products available are chemical cleaners. Before you think of nasty toxic chemicals spilling over the environment and killing everything in sight, this is not what I mean. They are cleaning products that require a chemical process to occur for cleaning to happen.

There is a new way of cleaning now. Enzyme cleaners are biological cleaners. These cleaners require a biological process to occur for cleaning to happen. It is nature’s way of cleaning. Enzymes help to start and speed up the process of waste and dirt to break down into smaller pieces so that it can be digested faster and easier by naturally occurring bacteria.

This means that enzyme cleaners require:
  •          Lower washing temperatures and therefore need less electricity
  •          Shorter washing times
  •          Fewer cleaning products
  •          Less effort required

And they are non-toxic and non-hazardous and safe in the environment!

Cleaning greasy hands in the workshop

You've been working away at some machine parts and your hands are now covered with grease. Normal soap and water is just not going to do the job here. Your hands are going to need to be cleaned by one of our industrial hand cleaners.

At Blendwell Chemicals we make a couple of different industrial hand cleaners for when grease removal is your aim. We have a Gel Hand Cleaner. This hand cleaner is simple to use. just take a dollop and rub into your hands. You will see the grease lifting off as you work it into your skin. You can then rinse off with water and dry as usual.

For really stubborn grease you can try Grit Hand Cleaner. This is a similar product to the Gel Hand Cleaner but it contains small grit particles to help remove stubborn grease. A newer version of this product is Bead Hand Cleaner which contains a finer, rounder grain which is made of plastic. Once rinsed away this particle will float so it is less likely to block drains.

Blendwell Chemicals is in Midrand and we make a large variety of cleaning products. Please visit our website at www.blendwell.co.za for more information.

Cleaning your hands in the workshop

Keeping hands clean in a workshop environment is a really hard thing to do. Blendwell Chemicals has a range of hand cleaning products that can help.

Cleaning hands of grease and oil can be quite tricky as these are very difficult things to remove from the skin without stripping the skin of it's own natural oils. Once the skin is stripped of its own oils the skin becomes very dry and is susceptible to infections and conditions like ecsema. When hands have been covered in dirt and grease they need have these substances removed as it would be unhygienic for these substances to remain.

Blendwell Chemicals makes a product called Barrier Cream. This hand cleaning product is rubbed into the hands before work on greasy engines starts. It contains special moisturisers that protect the skin throughout work time and then make cleaning of hands easier when all the greasy work is done.

To find out more about this product please go to www.blendwell.co.za/product/barrier-cream/
